Janet Lee Callahan

Janet Lee (Rigdon) Callahan,76, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 23, 2019. She was born on August 26, 1943 to the late Wendell and Jane (Frew) Rigdon in Brazil, IN.

Janet was a graduate of Lawrence Central High School.  She married her high school sweetheart on September 30, 1960.  They lived in Lawrence, IN where they raised their three sons.  Janet worked at Craig Middle School in Lawrence Township from 1970 to 2000.  She was a member of Lawrence United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving in many ways and working as the church treasurer for many years, after her retirement.  Her hobbies included gardening, scrapbooking, reading, cooking and baking, and decorating for the holidays.  Janet and Tim built a cabin in Michigan where many family vacations and memories were made including riding snowmobiles and ATVs with their children and grandchildren.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Tim; her children: William Scott (Norma), Richard Tim (Annette), Charles Wendell (Julie); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a fury companion, Annie.  She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Rosenow and brother William (Bill) Rigdon.

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 27, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 am, following a brief visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Lawrence United Methodist Church – 5200 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis.
