Janet C. Decker

102 years old, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. She was born in Dayton, OH to the late Roy and Ethel Clark. Janet graduated from Ball State University with her BS in education. She also graduated from Butler University with an MS in education. She was an Art and Music educator for over 30 years, teaching in both Wayne Township Schools and Washington Township Schools. She retired from teaching in 1974 so she could “play with her grandchildren.” She was also a member of DAR and a long time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed The Indianapolis Symphony, playing bridge, and spending quality time with family and friends. Janet traveled the world including visits to Europe, Russia, the Greek Isles, China, Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea.

Janet is survived by her children, Ken Clark Decker (Kitty) and Mary Cable (Duane); granddaughters, Kathy Myers (Tracy), Jennifer Dehn (Dan), Emalee Havel (Bill), and Katie Bradshaw (Aaron). She is also survived by her 11 great grandchildren: Jon Myers, Katie Myers, Allison Myers, Grace Myers, Kamryn Dehn, Keely Dehn, Kolby Dehn, Will Havel, Sam Havel, Zach Havel, and Charlie Bradshaw. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth P. Decker.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm with Funeral Service at 2:00pm in Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr. Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Attn: Allison Gehl, 32 E. Washington St., Ste. 600, Indianapolis, IN 46204 in memory of Janet C. Decker. Entombment will follow in Washington Park North Cemetery.
