James Walter Ashby

December 30, 1899 — February 24, 2016

JamesWalter Ashby. Born January 27th, 1942, in Anderson Indiana to Kenneth and JuneAshby Porter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sara (Suiter) Ashby,daughter Heather Wakley and son in law Tony, grandchildren Allison, Megan andAlexander. Brothers and sisters in law James and Sydney Suiter, Larry and LindaDowney, Phil and Christina Suiter and Carolyn Jenkins and many nieces andnephews. He is also survived by sister, Lois Carpenter and brother Jack andsister in law Candy Ashby.

He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1960. He went onto serve two years in the United States Army,

He retired from Guide Lamp after 31 years of service. In retirement he co-ownedBean Ball Sportscards and worked at Von Duprin for close to ten years. He thenwent on to own a personal chauffeur business that he continued until a fewmonths ago. He was a devoted Lions Club member for 38 years and held many localand state offices.

Heloved to travel and was an avid Indiana University and Colts fan. He preferredto be busy and active, never knew a stranger and was a friend to all. He willbe greatly missed.
