James Howard Foster, 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on October 10, 2018. He was born November 14, 1937 in Liberty, Kentucky to Clyde and Lucille Foster; he was one of 9 siblings.
He met the love of his life, Carol, through school and church. The two married and built a beautiful life together; spending 46 years together until Carol’s passing in 2005. James worked as a mule driver for General Motors until his retirement in 2000. He joined the United States Army October 21, 1957 and dutifully served his country for six years until his honorable discharge on January 1, 1962; our nation is grateful for brave soldiers like James. Family remembers him as a busy man who loved gardening. His absence from this world will leave a void in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to meet him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lucille; loving wife of 46 years, Carol; brother, Charles; sister, Frankie. Surviving to carry on his legacy are children, Lana (Bob) Soult, Kevin (Heather) Foster, Jeff (Katherine) Foster, Angie (Tracy) Chisham; siblings, Dot, Janice, Jeanie, Joy, Louise, Verna; grandchildren, Justin, Chelsea, Shelby, Sam, Cody, Casey, and Jett; and great-grandchildren Adalynn, Ella, Nolan, Braxton, Winsley, and Mason.
Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, October 14 from 2-6 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, 46221. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Monday, October 15 at 1:30 PM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S Mooresville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46221. James will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery immediately following services.
