Irene Marie Curran, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
She was born on December 25, 1929 in Ft. Dodge, IA to the late Clinton E. and Alma E. (Curtis) Miller. Irene relocated with her family to the Indianapolis area when she was 17 and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1948. Shortly after high school she met and married John Richard Curran; they were married on September 29, 1950 and celebrated 39 years of marriage before his death in 1990. Irene enjoyed bowling, flower gardening and reading. She also enjoyed crafting, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Irene is survived by her children, John R. (Linda) Curran, Jr., Elizabeth (Scott) Reynolds, Mark (Yong) Curran, Thomas Curran, Diane (Charles Cooper) Curran; 6 grandchildren, Heather, Amanda, Adam, Holly, John, Bryan; 3 great-grandchildren, Derek, Olivia and Issabelle. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene Fleckinger. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 3 brothers, Wayne, Gene and Dick.
Services will be held privately with Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park. Irene will be laid to rest next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to any local humane society.
