Gretchen Elizabeth Craig, 85, of Martinsville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022. She was born on October 16, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late George F. Krueger and Elizabeth (Cecil) Krueger.
After graduating from Indiana University with her RN license, Gretchen worked as a registered nurse at Community East Hospital for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the Indiana State Nurses Association.
In 1983, she married the love of her life, Alexander F. Craig. They lived a happy and fulfilled life enjoying each other’s company and sharing the same interests for the love of birds, going on fishing trips and reading books. She had a sense of humor that made everyone laugh and her kindness for others and humanity was infectious. She surrounded herself with family and enjoyed sharing her famous pumpkin bread and lemon butter during the holidays. She will not be forgotten.
Gretchen is survived by her nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren, and her stepchildren and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alexander F Craig.; sister, A. Kathryn Krueger; brothers, Karl F. Krueger and William C. Krueger; and niece, Kari L. Krueger.
There will be a private burial service at a later date.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to charities of choice.
