Gino R. Agresti, 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on August 15, 2023. He was born on August 19, 1947, in The Bronx, New York, to the late Ralph and Mary Agresti.
His passions were singing, baseball, and music; including musical theater in which he performed lead roles in high school productions. Loving the vast array of orchestral music, the experience of making music with so many talented colleagues won him over to attend the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where he had the privilege of studying violin with Sigmund Effron, the concertmaster of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. After graduating, he joined the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra where he passionately played first violin for 42 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed playing and connecting with nearby regional orchestras.
He was an avid fan of sports, opera, movies, and good food. He had a presence larger than life, and a great enthusiasm and encouragement for other people. He also had great admiration and pride in his two daughters and their personalities and abilities.
Gino is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Amanda (Sean Tornes) and Angela; and grandchildren, Olivia and Parker.
A Visitation for Gino will be on Saturday, August 19, from 10 am to 11 am, with a Funeral Service at 11 am, at Salem Lutheran Church, 4700 W 72nd St, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
Flowers are welcome, as well as memorial contributions in Gino’s name to the Indianapolis Opera.
