Gerald Martin Bruckner, 82, of Carmel passed away May 15, 2023. He was born July 21, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Lewis and Erna Martha (Bayer) Bruckner. He married Norma Jean (House) Bruckner on June 20, 1964.
Gerald was a graduate of Randolf High School in Englewood, Ohio. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force to which he proudly and honorably served from 1958 until 1962. While in the Air Force he studied Radar Repair. Upon his discharge from the military, he furthered his studies at the University of Dayton. He retired in 2006 as an Electronics Engineer from the Hobart Manufacturing Corporation of Premark International Division of Illinois Tool Works.
Most recently he was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, but Gerald always made sure to be an active member of his faith foremost and any church he attended throughout his lifetime. He also enjoyed auto cross racing, computer design, fishing, making wine, coaching youth soccer, but his greatest joy was spending time with this family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Bruckner; daughter, Jennifer Jean (Tresa) Bruckner; son, Michael Martin (Maranda Lynn) Bruckner; four grandchildren, Jensen Matthew Bruckner, Amelia Claire Bruckner, Elise Nicole Bruckner, and Caleb Young; sister-in-law, Gretchen Clara Bruckner; nephew, Robert Lewis Bruckner; two nieces, Christina Ann Morris and Dianna Lynn (Dan) Pahl; and great nephew, Jacob Ronald Pahl. He was preceded in passing by his brother, Ronald Lewis Bruckner.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2201 East 106th Street, Carmel, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to King of Glory Lutheran Church, National Kidney Foundation, or to the Dementia Society of America. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Carmel.
