George Earl Jones, (Whatchamacallit), the son of Earlean and I C Jones, was born February 20, 1940 in Hiwannee, Mississippi. He was the 4th of 16 children. Shortly after graduating from Waynesboro County Vocational School, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was united in holy matrimony to Peggy Lee Dotson on June 3, 1972. From this union four children were born: Glen, Dalewayne, Grant, and Melissa.
George was employed for 41 years at Link Belt-PTC (Rexnord) before retiring in 2000.
George was an avid fisherman and hunter. He owned a 3.5 acre farm near Bridgeport, where he raised livestock and had a beautiful garden. Trips were often taken to the farm by the neighborhood children. He instilled values and life lessons to many children and adults. George was also the neighborhood Mr. Fix-it man. He especially liked to repair lawn mowers. When you thought it was time to purchase a new one, George got it fixed and fired up.
George departed his earthly body on June 3, 2022, at 3:20 p.m., on the 50th anniversary of his marriage to Peggy, his beloved wife.
George is preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his parents, siblings, Prince Albert, Annie Pearl, Marzella, Charles, Joe Nathan, Dorothy, Buster, and son Dale.
George is survived by sons Glen Jones, Grant (Kim) Jones, and daughter Melissa (Scottie) Johnson, grandchildren: Jermaine, Joshua, Phyllicia, Marq, Qourtaze, Scottlynn, 8 great grandchildren, special companion, Sue Hawkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, and siblings.
