Frank John Lee II, 76, Indianapolis, died peacefully in his residence on November 3, 2021. He was born on May 18, 1945 to Jane Louise Wands Lee and Frank Brown Lee. They, as well as his brother, Harry Robert Lee, preceded him in death. Frank is survived by his niece, Cathy J Fuller, nephews, Jeffrey Paul Lee and Christopher Robert Lee; step-nephew, Jeffrey Bodenberg, step-niece, Angela Wolf; sister-in-law, Carol Lee; and twelve grand nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, graduated from Shortridge High School in 1963, and attended Culver Naval Academy several summers as both a student and teacher. He earned his BS at Ball State University, where he studied English and History, and his MS from Butler University. Frank began his teaching career at school 75 in Indianapolis, where he taught English for a few years, and then taught English at Arlington High until his retirement in 1995.
One of Frank’s passions in life was traveling, which he did extensively, with close friends, throughout North America and Europe. When traveling abroad, his favorite means of travel was sailing the high seas; especially the Caribbean as well as transiting the Panama Canal. He lived a rich and active social life, was an avid Bridge player, and known by his friends as a so-called Sudoku King. He also enjoyed summers at Otsego Lake in Michigan with his parents. Frank voraciously studied the royal families of Great Britain and Russia and became quite an expert on both. He was also quite the expert on English language usage, to which his friends and family can attest.
He was devout in his faith, and was Chrismated into the Greek Orthodox Church, which tenets he followed religiously. He became a Thirty-two degree Mason, and was both a docent and member of the Masonic Fraternity at the Scottish Rite Cathedral here in Indianapolis for more than fifty years.
Frank loved his family and friends, and they loved him. All who knew him considered him a truly good man, and he will be missed dearly. May his memory be eternal, and may he rest in peace.
