Eva I. Spears

Eva Irene (Walker) Spears, 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 13. She was born May 14, 1943, in Indianapolis. She truly earned her angel wings in Heaven, as she was an angel here on Earth.

On April 26, 1963, she was united in marriage to Richard Wayne Spears; he survives.

Eva graduated from George Washington High School in 1961 where she met Rick. She worked many jobs, but being a mom was the job for which she was most proud.
Eva was one of the greats of all time. She welcomed everyone, only had kind words to say about anyone—always giving more than she received. “Little Eva” was a devoted wife to her “Ritty Feetheart” and the biggest cheerleader and fan of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could always be found in the stands of ball games, dance recitals… She had a passion for flowers with her natural green thumb and all her past and present doggies, particularly the two by her side through her poor health, Izzy and Ella, a rescue. Her legacy is this and so much more.

Survivors include a daughter Kelly (Bill) Bowser and sons, Ryan (Angie) and Jason (Kristi) Spears; eight grandchildren, Hannah (Michael) Mason, Cory (fiancé Lexy) Bowser, Mallory (Andre) Richards, Emelia Spears, Haylee (Dylan) Conner, Emily Spears, Morgan Spears, and Kendall Spears; seven great-grandchildren, Maci Richards, Lucy, Annie, and Pippa Mason, Kolson, Kayden, and Kylee Conner.

Eva was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mary Elizabeth Walker, stepfather Verlis E. Walker, siblings Verlis E. Walker and Sharon Comer.

Funeral service will be private on Tuesday, July 18, at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens at 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. A Celebration of Life will be held at Eva’s church, Community Church at Murphy’s Landing on Saturday, July 29 from 2-4 pm at 7401 S. Harding Street, Indianapolis 46217 for all to attend.
