Eloise L. (Meewes) Bowers passed away on January 31, 2023. Eloise was born March 9, 1928, in Iowa to her late parents, William and Leora (Hein) Meewes. She worked at Davenport (Iowa) Bank before becoming a wife and mother. She married Tom (Thomas) Bowers in 1958. After living in Iowa, Michigan, and other places in Indiana, they settled in Carmel, Indiana in 1970. She was a Cubs, Hawkeyes, Bears, and Colts fan through Tom’s love of sports. Her true passion was music. She played flute and piano and spent many years singing in the choir at Carmel United Methodist Church and with the Sweet Adelines. Through music, she established many long-time friendships. She often attended The Center for Performing Arts at The Palladium in Carmel. Eloise and Tom enjoyed a great deal of traveling over the years. Highlights of her travels would include Switzerland, Germany, the Greek Isles, Australia, and much of the United States. For the past decade, she lived independently at The Barrington of Carmel where she enjoyed all the activities and people. She is survived by two daughters, Keri Whitaker, and Lisa Bowers; two grandchildren, Kelly (Aaron) Sutter and Adam (Katie) Whitaker; and her wonderful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth (Betty) Meewes of Iowa, and brother-in-law, Al Adey of Australia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; sister, Rosalyn (Lavern) Bergmann; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Bowers) Adey and brother-in-law, Dave Bowers. Memorial contributions can be made to The Palladium or the Carmel United Methodist Church.
