Ellen Hoffman

Mrs. Ellen Hoffman, of Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, February 4, 2019 in Indianapolis after a sudden illness. She was 71. She was born January 13, 1948 in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Hereford and Winona ‘Gocker’ Eads. Ellen was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and earned her Master of Arts in Education from Indiana Central University. Ellen was a life-long educator and spent her career as an English teacher. She taught for 33 years at her alma mater, Arsenal Technical High School. She was member of Indianapolis Liederkranz and the Damen Choir, Mensa and along with her husband was a member of the German-American Club. Ellen is survived by her husband, Gary R. Hoffman; her siblings, Robin (Debbie) Eads, George (Kitty) Eads, Joe (Dana) Eads, Dina (Al) Luptak and Lee Ann Richardson; her nephew, Chris (Sharon) Eads as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Seth, Alexe, Hanna, Ryan and Owen Eads. She was preceded in passing by her parents. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at the Indianapolis Liederkranz, 1417 E. Washington St. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm also at the Indianapolis Liederkranz, with officiating. Inurnment will be at the Church of Scotland in Aviemore, Scotland, UK at a later date. For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has asked that those be sent to the Indianapolis Liederkranz, in lieu of flowers.
