Elizabeth 'Betty' Lawson

Elizabeth "Betty" Gaumer Lawson November 10, 1925 to April 9, 2015 Elizabeth "Betty" Gaumer was born November 10, 1925 in Fairfield, Iowa. Her parents were Margaret (Heine) and Harvey Gaumer. She grew up in Fairfield, Iowa and married Ken Lawson on August 3, 1946. Shortly after, they moved to Haddonfield, NJ. Ken's career with RCA took them to Cambridge then Findlay, OH; Barrington, IL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Moorestown, NJ and finally to Indianapolis, IN while Betty assumed the role of "domestic engineer". Ken and Betty enjoyed traveling to Newfoundland and Texas to visit their kids. They also traveled outside the country to Taiwan, Hong Kong, England, and Brazil. They enjoyed square dancing and vacationing in their motor home. Betty hand made all of her kids Halloween costumes, knitted over 50 beautiful Christmas stockings for family and friends and enjoyed spending time with her dogs. She was a Grey Lady, a docent for the James Whitcomb Riley Home in downtown Indianapolis, a Red Hatter and enjoyed power walking and bible study. Betty was a fabulous gourmet cook and enjoyed throwing lavish dinner parties. She was active in the Castleton United Methodist Church Variety Bunch until she relocated to Franklin United Methodist Community after the death of her beloved husband, Ken. Betty was a loving mother and is survived by Becky (Walter) Hannowsky; Gwen Lawson; Christine (David) Mayhew; Tassy (Kirk) Davis and Lawrence Lawson. She has eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Indiana.
