Dorothy “Dotty” Lee Martens, 83, departed this life to be with our Lord and Savior on November 17, 2022.
She lived a full life, always loving, serving, and encouraging others. She loved to travel, vacation, and play games with her family. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making beautiful homemade greeting cards, playing the piano, reading, gardening, and cooking.
Over the years, she played piano and organ for services at several churches and at Westminster Village, where she enjoyed greeting and getting to know the residents. She made surgery dolls for a local hospital, and baptismal banners and embroidered napkins for Holy Cross Lutheran Church. This is where she sang in the choir, participated in the Dorcas sewing group, and enjoyed many friendships. She worked for Indiana State Medical Association for nineteen years and was honored by the Indiana Radiological Society for her outstanding service.
She is cherished by her surviving sons, Thomas Martens (Robin) and Jon Martens (Cynthia); daughters, Susan Eidson (John) and Linda Brown (Frank); sister, Margaret Steinke; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Martens; father Max Wendt; mother Helen Dooley; and sister Katherine Marquardt.
