Dora Mae Roller

Dora Mae Roller, 94, passed away November 11, 2018. Dora was born on November 12, 1923 in Morristown, IN to Elizabeth (Whiteside) and Virgil Arthur Meier. Dora graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, IN, in 1941 and continued her education in business school. She married Donald E. Roller on September 15, 1949. Dora worked for Vonnegut Hardware Company before starting her family. She later was bookkeeper for Ace Dental Lab.

In her younger years Dora enjoyed bowling and going to the movies. She served on the Recreation Committee during her employment at Vonnegut’s. She volunteered with Girl Scouting, was a Sunday school teacher, loved flower gardening, and enjoyed having a booth at the local flea market with her sister. Dora spent many years researching and compiling the Meier and Roller family histories including trips to many libraries, cemeteries and various historical groups. Dora Roller was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth in Franklin, IN.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joseph Meier, Gene Meier, Glen Meier; sister Catherine P. Koester; daughter, Devona Ann; son-in-law Steven E. Walker. Dora will be missed by her family including her children Craig S. Roller (Kathy), Karen D. Roller, Caroline E. Roller, Kevin D. Roller; brother Henry Meier (Peggy); sister-in-law Margaret Ann Thomas; grandson, Jason L. Roller (Kalii).

Visitation will begin at 2 pm followed by funeral service at 3 pm on Wednesday, November 21 in Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
