Donald Robert Wilson

Donald R. Wilson, 91, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on March 22, 2021.  He was born in Chicago, IL on April 4, 1929 to parents, Robert Oliver and Marie (Schweiger) Wilson.  Don was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  During his career, Don owned his own machine shop, Emquip Corporation, which he started in 1964.  His last day of work was on February 23, 2021.

Don was an antique car enthusiast, collector and builder.  He and his wife, Shirley were members of many car clubs, including the Milestone Club, the Jaguar Club and the Old Cars Social Club (OCSC).  He and his late wife, Shirley, loved traveling to the various antique car shows and events.  Don also enjoyed photography, gardening, building and flying model airplanes, and building electronic kits.   Most of all, however, Don loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow up.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Ann Wilson; parents, Robert and Marie Wilson; and his two siblings: George R. Wilson (Wanda) and Rosanne Wilson McDowell (Tim).

Don is survived by his three children and their spouses, Cynthia A. Mattingly (Tom), Charles R. Wilson (Janet) and Matthew P. Wilson (Kim); five grandchildren: Michael Mattingly (Jessica), Joseph Mattingly (Michelle), Carly Dury (Michael), Mackenzie Wilson, and Madison Wilson; six great-grandchildren; and many other loving extended family members and beloved friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, where friends may call from 12pm until the mass time.  Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
