Donald Gene Wilson 93, passed away peacefully into the hands of his Lord and Savior on November 19, 2020. He was born on December 4, 1926 to the late Forest Wayne and Sophia Catherine (Meek) Wilson in the small-town of Jordan Village, Owen County, Indiana.
He was raised in Owen County and graduated from Gosport High School but moved to Indianapolis in 1948. He met the love of his life, Colita whom he married on July 17, 1949. They were blessed with one son and 70 wonderful years together.
Don worked 45 years at C.P. Lesh Paper Company as a sales representative. The job suited him perfectly as he was a “people person” who never met a stranger. He was an honest, trustworthy, caring man and will sadly be missed by all who knew him.
He enjoyed lawn and flower gardening, photography, genealogy, and helping others. He was a volunteer for many years at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was honored when he was given the official job of Ambassador at the facility where he resided, where he greeted and assisted new residents when they moved in.
He and Colita enjoyed traveling and for their 50th wedding anniversary traveled abroad to London and Germany. He was a dog lover and had 7 spoiled Cocker Spaniels throughout his life. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, Michael Alan (Catherine) of Clermont, Florida, 2 grandsons, Ryan and Daniel, 3 great grandchildren, sister, Phyllis Strunk, of Greencastle, Beverly Sue (Jim) Winders, of Ellettsville and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Colita Imogene (Evans) Wilson, his parents, brothers, Dorman and Jim Wilson, and sister, Wanda Cradick.
The family would like to thank all the healthcare professionals for their care and compassion and to Traditions at Reagan Park of Avon for their love and treating him with dignity and as if he was a part of their family.
