Donald Alan Perkins age 63, passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, November 28th, 2016. He was born May 28th, 1953, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to Donald and Elizabeth Perkins. Alan graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1971. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marilyn (Roll); mother Elizabeth Perkins, mother-in-Law Clara Jane Roll; brother Bruce (Linda) Perkins; bother in law Glen Roll; sisters Diane Parsons, Cynthia Perkins and Francine Napariu; sister-in-law Carolyn (Roger) Sullivan; nephews Kyle Parsons, Troy Sullivan, John (Nyla) Napariu Jr, Joseph Napariu; nieces; Sarah (Matt) Springski, Mandy (Jason) Dyke, Beth Perkins (fiancé Ryan Rugg), Abby (Adam) Rowley and Sonya Napariu; great nephews Gage and Archer Dyke, Zackary Rowley; great niece Evelyn Napariu. Alan had many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his father Donald Perkins, father-in law George Roll, Grandparents: Howard and Julia McConnell, Kenneth and Mabel Perkins.
Alan was a Certified Master Electrician. He started his career working for Bracken and Kinder Electric in Indianapolis and following his marriage to Marilyn moved to Cincinnati and started his own business: K & P Electric. In his spare time, he was the family go to electrician.
Alan enjoyed family events. All the children loved to see Alan at reunions, picnics, campouts, cookouts, and work days in the Orchard. He loved celebrating Holidays and Birthdays with family, especially Christmas.
Alan and Marilyn loved to travel. They explored islands in the Caribbean, spent time in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, cruised through Alaska, hiked in the mountains and deserts and checked out Ireland and England. Alan loved to ski behind his Ski Natique, round and round the lake with those watching wandering when is he ever going to drop! After retirement, they spent the winter months at their condo in Treasure Island Florida, boating, riding bikes, walking the beach and having happy hour (4:00) wherever they were.
Alan will be remembered fondly by all and his presence, practical jokes, and smiling face greatly missed.
