Diane Marie Woolsey

September 7, 1942 — December 5, 2018

Greenfield, IN

Diane Marie Woolsey, 76 of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

She was born on September 7, 1942 in Albion, Michigan to the late Jack and Evelyn (Yuhas) Bogardus.  Diane was first and foremost a homemaker: a devoted wife and mother.  She also worked as a special education teacher, taught vacation bible school and was a member of the chaplaincy and volunteer for the former Marion County Healthcare Nursing Home.  Diane was a constant volunteer with her church; assisting with Sunday School and was proud to hold ‘I love Jesus’ parties at her church every Halloween.  Diane was an active member of Brandywine Community Church in Greenfield and enjoyed sharing her love for Christ and ministering to others.

She demonstrated selflessness every day of her life and found great fulfillment in caring for her large and extended family.  Diane enjoyed visiting her sister, nieces, and nephew in Illinois, garage sale-ing, and family camping trips every summer to French Lick, IN.  She was an avid gardener; spending many hours working in the flower beds and vegetable gardens.  Diane was a lover of nature and wildlife and valued all of God’s creations.  She enjoyed simple pleasures in life such as photography and eating food prepared by her chef husband.  Diane also took care of the elderly in the community by cooking, raking leaves, cleaning and providing companionship.  She was most at peace when studying God’s word and attending bible study.

Diane is survived by her loving children, Rita Gilley, Rick Booher, Cassie Woolsey-Hinds, Kathy Ballard, Robert Woolsey, Jim Woolsey, Larry Joe Allen; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Vicki (Bogardus) Roche; and brothers, Ron and Richard Bogardus.  Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey E. Woolsey; and brother, Jack Bogardus.

Visitation for Diane will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 12-2pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Washington Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the Brandywine Community Church of Greenfield.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
