Deo Thomas Carter

85, of Franklin, passed awayon October 18, 2015. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to the late Louie and Louise Carter. He married Gerry Hyatt on December 31, 1948. Gerry passed away in March of 2014. Deo is survived by his children; James "Jim" and daughter-in-law Janet Carter, Cathy and son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Carroll, Pamela "Pam" and son-in-law, Joseph "Joe" McLaughlin and Susan Carter Bales. Grandchildren: Kim (Mike) Lane, Kristy Carroll, Megan (Matt) Emanuel, Madison McLaughlin, Cassandra Bales, Derron Bales. Great-grandchildren, Ryan Lane, Emily Emanuel and Alice Ruth Lane. Brother, Louie and sister-n-law Ann Carter. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Preston Carter, Raellen Haverstick and Peter Carter.

Deo graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1948. He retired from the Indianapolis Star in 1996 as Production Manager. He loved poetry, being a Hoosier, a good party and a dry martini. Deo was a active member of North Park Masonic Lodge #646, The Valley of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, York Rite, Murat Shrine, International Shrine Aviation Association, Murat Flying Fezzes, Murat Reception Unit, Royal Order of the Jesters, Order of Quetzalcoatl, Murat Railroad Club and Madison & Shelby Counties Shrine Clubs. He also served as past state president of the Indiana Exchange Club.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
