David Scannell Thomas

With great sadness we convey the passing of David Scannell Thomas, on February 21, 2016. David was born February 23, 1934 in St. Louis, MO. He was a proud veteran, having served in the army during the Korean War. A graduate of Spring Hill College, he retired after spending 50 years in the paper industry.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Jane Thomas (Irvine), his daughters, Lynda and Patrice and son David, Jr. He was adored by his nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In his youth in St. Louis, David boxed for the Golden Gloves and loved playing soccer, later playing for the US Army’s team overseas. After his service to our country he continued a lifelong love of sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, the Indianapolis Colts and the Butler Bulldogs.

David was always known to friends and family as good spirited and uplifting, with much heart and character. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly.

Visitation will be from Friday, February 26 from 2:30-3 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), with a memorial service there at 3pm. Reception to follow.
