David Dodd went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Westfield, IN, at the age of 75. He was beloved husband of Rita (Beyers) Dodd for 51 years. David was loving father to Erin (Derek) Thomas, Carmel, IN, Jamey (Aimee) Dodd, Noblesville, IN and Danielle Dodd, Noblesville, IN. David was grandfather (Papa) to Taylor (Cody) Morris, Jacob and Luke Dodd, and Alex Thomas. He was great grandfather to Audrey, Aubrey and Willow. He was brother to Janice Modglin, Montgomery, TX, Jody Taylor, Marco Island, FL, and Tracey Lannan, Fishers, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Dodd. Also left to cherish David’s memory are many close relatives and friends.

David was a local restauranteur for his entire career. He owned and operated Dodd’s Townhouse for nearly 30 years, achieving local and national acclaim. It was also known as “The Flagpole” by many faithful customers who had visited his parents first restaurant in Carmel, IN before moving to the Meridian Street location. He opened restaurants in Union Station and The Claypool when they were first developed for retail. David was the third generation of the Dodd family in the restaurant business. His children were the fourth generation to continue the tradition. He sold the Townhouse in 2007, ending his career there.

David attended Northview Church and was involved in a couples small group for many years where he enjoyed doing life with good friends.

Friends and family may gather at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN, Friday, December 2, 2022 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for calling; service at 3:30 p.m. A private burial service will take place later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite ministry or charity.
