David Charles Meek, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on July 17, 2017. He was born March 11, 1943 in Champaign, IL to the late Dee Vere and Marjorie (Droll) Meek.
David attended John Strange, Fall Creek and IPS School #59. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. David attended Ball State University and was a member of Sigma Chi Social Fraternity and played for the football team all four years.
Following graduation, David became a teacher and coach at Frankton High School where he lead the varsity football team to an undefeated season. David eventually moved on to pharmaceutical sales and worked for GE before becoming a successful owner of Environmental Maintenance in St. Louis, MO.
He was also highly active in Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, while being an avid outdoorsman.
David is survived by his sister Donna Meek and his children Tracy Wright (Eric), Stacy Kelbert (Darrin), Kristy Meek, and Chris Pederson (Maureen). David’s grand children are: Spencer Wright, Madison Wright, Harrison Kelbert, Mackenzie Kelbert, Jacob Pederson, Mallory Pederson, Joseph Pederson and Hannah Pederson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to the American Heart Association.
A memorial service will be held at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple, on Monday, July 24, at 12pm, with visitation beginning at 10am.
