Darlene Gielerak born May 21,1944, 73, of Indianapolis passed away on June 25, 2017. She was born in LaPorte, Indiana, daughter of Tom and Vera Bell of Knox, Indiana.
She graduated from Knox High School and Ball State University with a degree in Elementary Education and minor in Library Science.
She married Paul Gielerak in 1969. She had a daughter, Gina, and a son, Jeff.
She dedicated her waking moments to her 9 grandchildren. She loved going to ballgames, plays, and school activities.
She was a member of North United Methodist Church and was very active in the children’s library. She was an active reader.
She and Paul loved traveling and vacations. They went to Switzerland, Hawaii, Spain, North Africa, and England, as well as trips to multiple states.
She was an active member and past president (2008-2009) of PEO, a women’s club, for over 30 years.
Darlene worked for Rubber Products for 28 years. She enjoyed her time spent there and friendships that developed over the years.
She struggled with rheumatoid arthritis but never complained, was the best listener, friend, and never met someone who did not love and adore her. She brought joy to everyone she ever met and was accepting of everyone no matter what. She was incredible and inspiring to all.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, daughter, Gina Pipkin, son, Jeff Gielerak, son-in-law, Jeff Pipkin, daughter-in-law, Bobbi Gielerak, grandchildren, Tyler Pipkin, Brooke Pipkin, Ashley Pipkin, Carter Pipkin, Spencer Pipkin, Tanner Pipkin, Kadin Hamby, Miles Gielerak, Graham Gielerak, brother, Jack Bell, sister-in-law, Linda Bell, brother-in-law, Bill Gielerak, sister-in-law Mary Gase, sister-in-law, Nancy Plaga, brother-in-law, Richard Plaga, and many nieces and nephews.
Donations will be accepted for the North United Methodist Church Library Fund 3808 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN, and/or the Chiari Foundation (CSF) 29 Crest Loop, Staten Island, NY. 10312.
Arrangements: Visitation will take place Friday 4:00 to 9:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. An Additional Visitation will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the parlor at North United Methodist Church 3808 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, In 46208. The funeral Service will start after the 1:00 PM visitation in the sanctuary.
Graveside services will be held at the East Washington Park Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Home after the church service.
