K. Darlene Litton Day
May 27, 1935 – November 4, 2019
Darlene passed peacefully in Peachtree City, GA surrounded by loving family. Born and raised in Sidney, OH, she led a rich and energetic life. She attended Miami University of Ohio where she earned her teaching certificate and met her husband Larry. She later enrolled in Butler University, completing her BA in Early Education and a Masters of Education.
After marrying in 1957, Darlene and Larry lived in several locations including Guam, East Lansing, MI and Niantic, CT. They finally settled in Indianapolis where they raised their family and Darlene was active in her church and children’s lives. She became a Cub Scout and Brownie Leader and rotated room mother duties between her children’s classrooms while teaching pre-school classes at St. Andrew Church. She later returned to full time teaching with Pike Township from which she eventually retired.
Upon retirement, Darlene and Larry built a cabin in Door County, WI where they spent many happy summers with their children, grandchildren and friends. The couple also traveled extensively and enjoyed visits to Asia, Europe, South America and Australia.
Eventually they moved to Peachtree City, GA where their daughter and her family reside. After Larry’s death in 2014, Darlene continued her life by immersing herself in numerous activities at her residence including water aerobics, choir, cultural excursions and Sunday School classes at Evergreen Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by children Mark (wife Kathie), Betsy (husband Doug), Peter (wife Donna), her brother Jon, nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Darlene is greatly missed but we are comforted in knowing that she is reunited with Larry, her parents Ina & Claude, and her brother Jim.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Veteran’s Association or The Bedford School of Fairburn, GA.
