Daniel David Mark

October 31, 1963 — April 20, 2016

A wondrous human being, Daniel Mark, passed away on April 20, 2016. A resident of Daniels, West Virginia, he was a man of many talents, passions and loves; his greatest love, Sara, and his remarkable children, Alex, Jacob, Grace, Chelsea and Josh. Daniel explored and embraced life with compassion, curiosity and a humbleness so rarely found. Along with his family and close friends, he often engaged in the great outdoors — from gardening and geology to communing with the natural world — where he found peace and tranquility. Daniel David Mark was born in Indianapolis to Shirley A. and Harry D. Mark, MD (deceased) on October 31, 1963. A graduate of North Central High School in 1981, Daniel continued his education at Indiana University as an ROTC officer candidate with a BS dual major in Chemistry and Geology. After graduation, he received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant actively serving in the Army Signal Corps with the U.S. Army from 1985 until 1989, when he transitioned to Reserve status as a 1st Lieutenant. He recently worked as Executive Director for Research Environmental and Industrial Consultants (REIC) at the Beaver, WV facility. His past work as an environmental consultant included Pace Analytical® and W.R. Grace and Company. Daniel is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann Mark; his brothers, Joseph Mark (Lisa Rogers), Martin Mark, PhD (Lynn Sharet), Bruce Mark (Anne Wellman), and Lawrence Mark, MD, PhD (Margaret Lehtinen); and countless nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. A private burial and service will be held in Indianapolis. Please visit www.flannerbuchanan.com to sign the guestbook and leave a message for the family.
