Curtis (Curt) L. Massey, age 79, Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on January 21, 2019. He lived in Florida during the winter months. He worked 29 years for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield retiring as a Senior Vice President in December 1994. He graduated with a Master’s Degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a Sloan Fellow. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. He served on the board of directors of Noble Centers, the Marion County Mental Health Association and other community organizations. Curtis actively participated in the United Way and was a past member of the Columbia Club, Indiana Personnel Association, American Society of Training Directors and Indiana Society for Training and Development, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and the American Management Association. Curtis attended church at Castleview Church in Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Linda Lee Frizzell Massey; his father, Oscar L. Massey; his mother, Julia Mae Brown Massey; his stepmother, Viva Newport Massey; sister, Pauline Francis Massey Holzapfel; brother, Cledith “Buddy” Massey, brother, Eddie Lee Massey, Senior; son, Curtis L. Massey, Jr.; and his granddaughter, Rebecca Massey.
He is survived by his children: son, Jason Massey; daughter, Lori Armour; six grandchildren: Matthew Massey, Elizabeth Grace Massey, Charity Massey, Gordon Armour, Zachary Armour, and Lily Armour; brother, Jerry Lawson of Tennessee; three sisters: Louise Manning of Indianapolis, Indiana; Ann Jones of South Carolina, and Glenna Faye Coward of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East 91st Street Christian Church, 6049 E. 91st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250; or to the Indianapolis Humane Society, 7929 N. Michigan Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.
