Conrad Carl Hofmann

Conrad Carl Hofmann, 77, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in the comfort of his home. He was born on January 8, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Conrad Carl and Elizabeth Jean Hofmann. Conrad dedicated his life to serving others. He was a 34-year veteran of the Indianapolis Police Department, and a six-year Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War as a Machinist Mate on the destroyer, USS Turner Joy. Conrad loved to work with his hands, and was skilled at all types of automotive work, yard work and light construction projects. His favorite past time, however, was restoring classic cars, such as his 1955 Chevy, 1923 T-Bucket and 1946 Ford coupe, to name just a few. He had most recently worked on a Mustang that he gave to his son, Steve.

Conrad is survived by his loving wife of more than 54 years, Helen Rose Hofmann; sons, Gregory (Angie) Hofmann, David (Jennifer) Hofmann, and Stephen (Carrie) Hofmann; grandchildren, Jacob Hofmann, Kayla Hofmann, Tyler Hofmann, Courtney Hofmann, Bailey Hofmann, and Anne Hofmann; brother, Ron Hofmann; sister, Terry Louden; niece, Melisa Hall; and nephew, Michael Hofmann.

Friends and family are invited to gather beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at Horizon Christian Church (7702 Indian Lake Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236), where a celebration of life service will follow at 12:00 p.m.

The family also welcomes friends to attend a graveside service with military honors on Friday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center, 10722 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229. A procession will depart the funeral center to the grave site promptly at 11:00 a.m. (Please note: weather is expected to be very cold. The graveside service will be brief, but please dress accordingly.)
