Claire A. (Hopkins) Connolly passed away on January 28, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Claire was born on June 7, 1932 in Scranton, Pennsylvania the 8th of 10 children to Francis X. Hopkins and Mary A. (Crane) Hopkins. Claire graduated from Technical High School in Scranton and then worked for Prudential. On August 13, 1955 she married Edward (Ned) J. Connolly in Scranton. They lived in Bainbridge, Maryland for three years while he completed his service in the Navy. From there they lived in East Orange, New Jersey and then Levittown, Pennsylvania before moving to Indiana in 1961. They settled in Indianapolis where Claire devoted herself to her family and raising their four daughters. Claire was widowed in 1984 at which time she went to work as the secretary at her church, St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church. She retired in 1994 and enjoyed time with family and being a Grammy and a Gigi. She loved family gatherings when everyone came together for fun and good food.
Claire is survived by her daughters, Susan Wolf (Eric); Mary Baumer (Mark); Patti Connolly-Bedwell (Rusty) and Kathleen Hagemeier (Kevin); 11 grandchildren, Lily Wolf and husband Dr. Abdul Aasar, Sally Wolf, Wilson Wolf, Gregory Baumer and wife Alison, Steven Baumer and wife Sara, Nicholas Baumer, Cullan Bedwell, Nolan Bedwell, Aidan Bedwell, Brogan Hagemeier and fiancée Leah Baumann, Brennan Hagemeier; and 3 great-grandchildren, Grant Baumer, Leah Baumer and Marshall Baumer. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Griffin of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Jeanne Hopkins of Scranton, Pennsylvania, as well as many numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband Ned; her parents, Frank and Mary Hopkins; her brothers Leo Hopkins, Frank Hopkins and Vincent Hopkins and their wives; her sisters Kay Harders, Marge Lavelle, Nan Halloran and Marilyn Culkin and their husbands and also her brothers-in-law Jim Griffin, James Connolly and Gerald Connolly.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 7243 East 10th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219 at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021. The family will receive callers at the church at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. To livestream the service, please use this link.
