Life and Legacy
Charles Walter Jones affectionately known to many as ‘Nick’ was born on October 30, 1928 to Carl W. and Velnora Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana .
Charles attended Indianapolis Public School #19 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and attended Butler University.
Charles was employed as a Power Plant Technician at Eli Lilly and Company retiring after 39 years, becoming the youngest employee to retire with that number of years of service. While being employed with Lilly, Charles also owned and operated Nick’s 50 minute Dry Cleaners for over 25 years.
After Charles retired from Lilly and sold his dry cleaning business, he still had that entrepreneurial spirit. Therefore, Charles began purchasing several rental properties, which he rehabbed himself. Charles continued to grow his portfolio of rental properties, until the time of his stroke in December 2006.
Charles was baptized a Jehovah Witness in September 1974 and became a zealous proclaimer of the Kingdom good news. Charles had a special love for informal witnessing and was very successful in his effort, having aided many to come to the knowledge of Jehovah.
Charles went home to be with the Jehovah on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Paul W. Jones; step daughters Marva E. Arnold and Carla E. Allen.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory daughters Sharon Y. Anderson;
Gina (Marty) Weathers; son Carl (Ronda) W. Jones; twelve grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren and a host of extended relatives and friends.
