Charles L. Wilson

Charles L. Wilson (80) passed away peacefully on September 12th with family by his side. Charles was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a proud 1959 graduate of Auburn University.

During his 27 year career at Temple Inland, he moved with his wife and children to Indiana and then Connecticut. In 1984, the family made Indianapolis their home and remained there after his retirement from Temple Inland in 1998.

Charles, affectionately known as “Buddy” by his grandchildren and their friends, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Charles lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many things, including being with his family, entertaining, travel, golf, winters in Destin, and Auburn football.

From its inception, Charles was involved with the Woodland Christmas Club, making sure children and families in need have food on Thanksgiving as well as food and presents at Christmas.

Charles was predeceased by his wife of 51 years and childhood sweetheart, Joyce (Tubbs); sister, Evelyn Webb; and brother-in-law, Gary Osborn. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Cahill (Mike); son, Greg Wilson (Missy); grandsons, Daniel Cahill and Griffin Wilson; nephews who he considered grandsons, Russell and Bradley Vandiver; sister, Millie Osborn; brother, Charles Wallace (Deborah); sister-in-law, Terri Vandiver (Wayne); brother-in-law and childhood friend, L.B. Tubbs (Annette); and his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 29 from 11:00 – 1:00 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel with the memorial service beginning at 1:00.
