Catherine Mae Keers

Catherine Mae (Foust) Keers, 98, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022.  She was born on November 2, 1923 in Columbus, IN to the late George and Beatrice (McIntire) Foust.  Katie, as she was known to friends and family, grew up with her extended family in Columbus after her parents passed away when she was a young girl.  She graduated from Columbus High School in 1941 and completed her training with the University of Beauty Culture the same year.

Catherine met William Joseph Keers after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.  They were married in 1948 and celebrated 48 of marriage before his death in 1996.  Together they raised their 2 daughters, Barbara and Jill and welcomed countless friends and neighborhood kids into their home.  Catherine was a devoted wife and loving mother; she was a proud homemaker and enjoyed caring for those around her.  She volunteered with the PTA and served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.  Catherine enjoyed traveling, playing euchre and socializing with friends and family.  She will be remembered for her kindness and dedication to family.

Catherine is survived by her children, Barbara (Dennis) Shelley and Jill Rynard; grandchildren, Renee Catherine (Blair Combs) Rynard and Ross William (Jensen) Rynard; and great-granddaughter, Ellory Nicole Rynard.  She is also survived by her sisters, Thelma Foust Ameter and Marcia Jo Carmichael, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022, from 1-2:30pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with a funeral service immediately following.  Catherine will be laid to rest privately with her beloved husband in Washington Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Indiana Chapter.
