Carol J. Miller, 91 of Carmel, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Carol was born July 8, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Roy and Nellie (Beatty) Mathews. She was a graduate of Howe High School. She received her Masters in Education from Butler University.

Carol taught second grade in Perry Township schools for over 30 years. She loved her students and their families with her whole heart. Carol was active at Southport Presbyterian church for the many years. Later in life, she became a member at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Carol was a member of the Tri Delta sorority at Butler. She was also an active member in the Southport chapter of Tri Kappa, a service sorority. Carol worked at Weight Watchers every Saturday for years during and after her retirement from teaching. Carol was a wonderful mother and grandmother, was devoted to family and friends, and never believed in sitting idle.

She is survived by her son, Joe Miller and his wife, Julie Bittner Miller; grandsons, Benjamin Miller and Luke Miller. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Mathews and Joe Mathews and his wife, Margaret. She has several nieces and nephews whom she adored; Mike and Laura Mathews, Anne and Jim Grant, Marcy and Tom Shank, Diane Sincroft, Cheryl Mathews, and Dennis and Estelle Mathews.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, North Indy Location, on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Visitation begins at 2pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:30 p.m.
