Brittan Allyson Gurley

March 8, 1986 — November 21, 2019

Hardeeville, SC

On November 21, 2019, Brittan Allyson Gurley, loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away at age 33 while surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 8, 1986 in Detroit, Michigan to Kevin Bradburn and Denise Cutler.

Brittan was a witty and unshakable person who loved with her entire being. Her laugh and smile captured every person in the room and she was someone you always rooted for.

She had an innate ability to create, whether it was through crafts or baking. She showed up when you needed her and never deterred from what she believed in. As they say, she was small but mighty, and her best friends and siblings, Trevor and Taylor, knew this very well. She was the person you wanted in your corner.

She was a cheerleader at Butler University and upon graduating, she received her master’s degree in Autism and Applied Behavioral Analysis from Ball State University. She continued her education at Northern Arizona University and earned a second master’s degree in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology. Her greatest passion in life was using this degree to work in early intervention speech therapy with children.

Brittan met Evan Gurley in 2008. On September 6, 2015, she and Evan married. The radiance and beauty of Brittan’s happiness on that day was unmatched until the birth of their daughter Blayke Stahre Gurley on June 2, 2018.

Of everything that Brittan was in life, becoming a mother was her greatest gift. She looked at Blayke with eyes that no one had seen on her before. With her daughter, there was no suffering; it was only love in its purest form. Brittan will forever live through Blayke, in the lasting love and traits she left with her.

Brittan did not lose her battle to cancer. She fought every day. And she will be remembered for her unmistakable bravery and grace through it all.

Brittan was preceded in death by her good friend, Bryce Mitchell, her nephew, Harrison, her grandparents, James and Fern Bradburn, and her beloved Great Grandmother, Dorothy Stahre. She is survived by her loving husband, Evan, her beautiful daughter, Blayke Stahre, her pups, Lucy and Charlee, her mother and step-father, Denise and Phil Cutler; her father and step-mother, Kevin and Sandy Bradburn; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Terry and Diana Gurley, her brother and sister-in-law, Trevor and Erin Bradburn; her sister and brother-in-law, Taylor (Bradburn) and Zach Johnson, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Joanna (Gurley) Bahe; and her precious nieces, Sawyer, Hadley, Caroline, and Sutton. She leaves behind an entire extended family, including her Grandparents, Bruce and Gloria Abbott, and Barbara Gurley Bevill Patterson, her Godparents, Paul and Fannie Abbott, her Aunt Beth and Uncle Wilbur Arnold, her Aunt Sally and Uncle Doug Abbott, her Aunt Kellie and Uncle Brian Abbott, and lifelong friends, Doug, Cathy, Nicole, Kimberly (Sandzik), and Marilyn Wargo.
