Betty Lord Shank

Betty Lord Shank, 98 of Zionsville, Betty joined her heavenly Lord and family on August 18, 2018. She was born in Randolph County, Green Township, Indiana on August 6, 1920, the only child of Fred and Fredith (Petro) Lord. She graduated from Parker High School in 1938 and completed a 1-Year Program at the Muncie Business College in 1939. She married Joseph McArthur Shank, of nearby Farmland, IN, on 9/14/1941. Her only child, Joseph Christopher was born 11/2/1947. The family relocated to Lawrence Township, Indianapolis, in 1957. Betty and Joe moved to Ft. Myers, FL in 1986 and Joe died in 1988. Betty returned to Zionsville in 2007, living independently until relocating to Hoosier Village in November 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, and her dear “Auntie” Gladys Lord, of Muncie. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and “Granny”. She was a current member and, until recently, a regular attendee of the Zionsville United Methodist Church. A former high school cheer-leader, she was a loyal Pacers fan. Survivors are her son, Chris and daughter-in-law Carol; grandson, Brad (Kristin); granddaughter, Beth (Patrick); and great grandchildren, Max and Oscar Shank, and Cecily and Ferris Crosby.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Thursday, August 23, at Flanner Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville, with funeral service at 11am on Friday, August 24. Following the service, burial will be at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie.
