Bettie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She follows in death her husband of 64 years, Charles Leonard Pogue who passed away 12 weeks earlier this year. She is survived by children Charlie (Debbie), Kathy (Jim), and Russ (Josephine), grandchildren, Kelly, Heather, Liz (Ryan), Jim and Isabeau and many nieces and nephews .Bettie is also preceded in death by her brother Francis Eugene Kittinger, sister Ruby Howell and her youngest sister Anita Lindsey.
Bettie was the daughter of Raymond & Venita Kittinger, born in 1932 in Boise, Idaho. Her family drove east to southern Illinois for work when she was a teenager. As the oldest of four, she kept her brother Francis and sisters Ruby & Anita in line, giving her a start in her life of caring for others.
Bettie lived her life taking care of everyone, sacrificing much to give her loved ones more. She often bypassed buying things for herself so she could afford things for her husband & kids. Her family's success was her joy. She was truly the backbone of the family keeping everyone together and standing tall.
Bettie loved to paint, crochet, and cook – especially baking. As her eyesight began to fail, she lost her ability to paint & crochet, but she could still cook and loved trying new recipes. We never knew what surprises would be served at mealtime. She would jot down recipes everywhere and had a vast collection of cook books.
Most of all, she really loved her family
