Barbara Jean Stephens

Barbara Jean Stephens, 83, was surrounded by loved ones as she went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 30th 2017, in her Indianapolis home, where she resided for the past 60 years. She was the widow of Joe Clifford Stephens.They shared 27 years of marriage together.

Barbara was born on September 10, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana she was the daughter of Herman and Versa Marie (Stith) Hamm.

She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1952. She married her sweetheart, Joe
Clifford Stephens, on December 18, 1956. They were blessed with 3 children. She was
employed in 1962 a consumer loan clerk at American Fletcher National Bank of
Indianapolis. After 37 years in the workforce she retired from Bank One in 1999.

Barbara resided on the Westside of Indianapolis all of her life. She was a member of Ben Davis Christian Church. She was also a member of the Indiana Christian Women Business Organization. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would often talk about events from her childhood and tell stories of her children and marriage to her beloved husband Joe. She also enjoyed meeting her friends weekly at MCL. She enjoyed conversation and a good cup of coffee. But most importantly she loved reading her Bible and spending time with the Lord. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and would tell everyone she met about Him. What a beautiful Christian example she was for all of us.

She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Pamela Sue Chaffin, Sharon Diane
Cash (husband Johnny), and her son, Michael Joe Stephens (wife Teresa), her 10
grandchildren, Joey Chaffin, Jennifer Davitto, Jessica Chaffin, Ryan Chaffin, Lindsey
Randall, Benjamin Stephens, Reagan, AnnieGrace & Lincoln Stephens, her 10 great
grandchildren, Brooke Davitto, Jordan and Hannah Ross, Emma Hubbard, Justin
Killin, Rylee, Aaron and Carlee Chaffin, Levi Randall, and Norah Stephens. She was
preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Clifford Stephens.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd., with the service immediately following. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
