Barbara Jean Hartley

Barbara J. Hartley, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away August 5^th, 2022. She was born in Terre Haute, October 29^th, 1931, to parents Earl and Weeda (Brooks) Greathouse.

Barbara graduated from Garfield High School in Terre Haute.

On April 21^st, 1954, she married the love of her life, Donald “Jean” Hartley. They shared 54 wonderful years together. Jean passed away in March 2005.

She was a devoted member of Heather Hills Baptist Church.

She had several jobs over the years, but really enjoyed her time as a “sample lady” at Sam’s Club.

Barbara was an independent, classy woman with a loving heart. She had an eye for detail and design. Barbara loved being outdoors, tending to her yard and flowers. In her free time, she was an avid reader. She took great pride in being a grandmother and made sure to spend special time with each grandchild.

She was an adoring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her children Donald (Kim) Hartley, and Shari Harrell; grandchildren Ashley Harrell, Jake Hartley, Brandon Hartley, Bryon Jones, and Brandon McMahon; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sibling Doyne Hemmings; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jean; and her brother, Bill Greathouse.

Visitation for Barbara will be Wednesday, August 10^th, from 11-1pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. Her funeral will begin at 1pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
