Barbara Camp Ludwig

September 21, 1931 — July 29, 2022

Indianapolis, Indiana

Barbara, 90, of Indianapolis was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday morning, July 29, 2022.  She was born in Marion, IN on September 21, 1931 to Claude and Lova Small.

Barbara was born and raised in the Quaker Church but most recently attended Faith Church in Indianapolis. She was active in Bible Study Fellowship in the early years of the organization. Her faith grew stronger with each coming year.

Barbara graduated from Marion High School in 1949 where she was a cheerleader and maintained important friendships for the rest of her life. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Indiana University in 1953.

In 1952 she married Richard Camp. She traveled across the ocean with 2 small children to join her husband in Germany where he was part of the occupying forces after WWII. Lifelong friendships were developed during the time they lived there.

After her children were raised she began and owned a children’s consignment shop in Carmel, IN, called Small Change.

She married the love of her life, George Ludwig, in 1989. They were married for 21 years. They loved to travel and made many friends during their adventures. Barbara and George had a condo in Sun City, where they shared the warmth of Arizona with many family and friends.

She passed on her love of racing and attended the Indy 500 for 60 consecutive years. Her love of reading and discussing good books lead to attending the National Book Fair in Washington DC several years with her sister, Sara Van Hoose. Other interests included golf and bridge.

At the age of 80 Barbara traveled solo to South Africa visiting friends she and George met on a cruise.

Barbara saw the good in every one. She was positive and encouraging. She was always proud of her children and their accomplishments. She delighted in and had special relationships with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was the family gathering place. She supported and promoted her nephew, Matthew, wanting everyone to enjoy his musical talent. She lived a life of sacrificial love.

Survivors include her daughter Cynthia Hall of Indianapolis, IN; sons Bradley Camp (Terri) of North Manchester, IN, Michael Camp (Patty) of Indianapolis, IN, and Jeffry Camp (Trish) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Ariadne Hall Price, David (Shannon) Camp, Gabriel Hall, Katie (Doug) Camp Ranger, Kiersten (Chris) Camp Baughman, Natalie (Timothy) Hall Yeahquo, Ryan Camp, Ben Camp, Kayla (John) Camp Marlow, Steven Burt Camp, Stephen Marshall Camp; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Sara Van Hoose nephews Matthew (Allison) Van Hoose and Tommy (Brandi) Van Hoose; and special family members Douglas Hall, Wende Brown Camp.
