Anne Elizabeth Lowder

Anne Jacobs Lowder, 78, a former McCordsville resident, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019, with her daughter and husband by her side. She was born May 15, 1941 in New Castle, Indiana to the late LeQue and Esther Jacobs of New Castle, Indiana.

A 1959 graduate of Chrysler High School, she received her B.S. degree from Indiana University in 1963, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Anne spent over 30 years teaching High school English, College Prep English and French at Lapel High School. During this time, she earned her MBA at Ball State University.

Anne and her husband, Phil, enjoyed traveling, dancing, dining, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. She was a caring Mother and Grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, Alex and Erin. She was also a member of the local Psi Iota Xi Chapter and frequently volunteered to raise money for Riley Hospital.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Le Que and Esther Jacobs, and is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Phil Lowder, daughter, Catherine Whalen Purdy, grandchildren, Alex and Erin Purdy, Sister, Susan Clemons, brothers, John Jacobs and Richard Jacobs, Step children, Gail Prather, Lynn Williams, Melody Lowder, Brian Lowder and Jonathon Lowder, several nieces and nephews, step grandchildren and many wonderful friends.

She loved her family and friends, and the special connection she had with her students.

A celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. Burial will follow at the Arnett-Lowder family plot in Mount Comfort, Indiana. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
