Ann B. Remlinger, 59, of Fishers passed away on July 7, 2023. She was born in Willoughby, Ohio on July 2, 1964, to her parents Ray and Janice Christopherson.
Ann graduated from Andrews School in 1982 and went on to Ashland College in Ashland, OH to graduate with her bachelor’s in political science in December of 1985. Ann met her husband at Ashland College in 1982 and they were married in Concord, OH on September 19th, 1987. They moved to Schererville, IN in 1986 where Ann worked as an inside sales role at Amstek Metals in Chicago, IL. They moved again to Palatine, IL in 1987, where Ann gave birth to Rachel Ann on May 1st, 1990, and to Morgan John on September 13th, 1992.
The family moved to Cary, IL in 1994, where Ann eventually began working again at Frank’s Nursery and Crafts in 1995, while raising her family. This is where Ann was able to explore her artistic and craft making talents, as well as her green thumb and gardening. These were all hobbies and talents that she used throughout the remainder of her life.
She got involved in local politics in 1999 and founded the Citizens for Better Communities non-profit. The goal was to prevent a large farm plot from being developed as a stone quarry, and instead she asked the citizens to pay an additional tax to allow the city to purchase the land and develop it as a park space. She was successful, and after the city purchased the land, it was named Hoffman Park, and she was elected to the Cary Park Board later in 1999. Her goal was to oversee the development of Hoffman Park while she was serving on the board.
The family moved to Fishers, IN in June of 2002 after her husband got a new job. Ann decided to stay home to raise the children and get more physically active, after she joined the YMCA in Fishers. Ann’s family was proud of how Ann took care of all the details of the children and the house, and she spent many of the years in Fishers busy with crafts, decorating and updating the home, gardening, cooking, and her new dog Brandy Wine, who she adopted in 2003.
She was also involved in many social groups, including at the YMCA, where she regularly hit the monthly fitness points targets. She also donated her time to the YMCA while her children were in college. She was also engaged with a group for Stamp’n Up, which women got together regularly to make handcrafted greeting cards. All this kept her busy until in 2013, her and Tom purchased a second home in Venice, FL, where she grew up vacationing with her family. She and Tom recently wintered in Venice, FL, and spent the rest of the year in Fishers, IN.
In addition to looking after the two homes, they purchased two condominiums in FL where Ann managed the properties. Most recently, Ann became a grandmother on May 31st, 2022 to Wesley Ray Remlinger, which brought many smiles and laughs to Ann prior to her untimely death.
Ann is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; her children, Rachel (David) and Morgan (Kelsey); her grandchild Wesley; her siblings, Alisa (David), Amy (Walter), and Alan (Kelley); nieces and nephews, Zachary, Mark, Matthew, Michael, A.J. and Rob. She is preceded in death by her parents; her mother Janice and father Ray.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 12PM-3PM at Flanner Buchanan—Geist, 7855 Cork Rd. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46236. A memorial service will begin at 3PM. There will be a catered event after the ceremony at the family residence to celebrate Ann.
In honor of Ann, memorial contributions may be made to the Fishers Parks Foundation or the Fishers YMCA.
