Angelica Maria Zuluaga

April 27, 1991 — April 13, 2022

Westfield, Indiana

Angelica “Gelly” Maria Zuluaga, 30, of Westfield, Indiana passed away on April 13, 2022 from an acute asthmatic attack.  She was born on April 27, 1991, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Jaime and Angela (Cadavid) Zuluaga.

Gelly was a 2009 graduate of Westfield High School.  Her strong love for animals led her to continue her education in Zoology at Ball State University.  In addition to her passion for animals, she loved to attend concerts, take road trips, be outdoors, and travel to Colombia where she has a large extended family whom she loved very much. Her dream was to go live in Colombia so she could be close to the ones she loves. She beamed with pride of her Colombian heritage. Both of her parents are from Colombia and kept the culture within the house.

She put other people’s priorities before her own. That’s the type of girl she was. Beautiful, happy, and radiant person. When you were around her you didn’t want to leave her. She truly lived up to her name, Angelica, meaning The Angel.

She leaves behind her heartbroken family, her parents, Jaime and Angela Zuluaga, her three siblings, Tatiana (Jim) La Sarre, Daniel Zuluaga, and Michael Zuluaga; and niece, Samantha Zuluaga, lots of friends, and a hell of a lot of memories for all of us to cherish and hold dear to our hearts.

In addition, she leaves behind her beloved furry, hairy, and feathered pets including The Dog Squad: Benny, Bella, Sofia, and Kavik. The hairy rat she cared for, the gerbil, the rabbits: Luna, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison. The Stray Cats of 20 or so that she help feed every weekend. And let’s not forget the parrot and parakeet families: Bell, Star, Coco, Sky, Kiwi, and let’s not forget Jack Sparrow.

Her heart was so big she wanted to rescue ALL of the animals no matter the size. As good and gentle as she was with animals you would assume she had the patience for driving a vehicle. Nothing can be further from the truth. I believe the total vehicle incidents number is around 12. No one ever got hurt but her car and her dignity.

Anytime a friend needed a helping hand, she was there to help no matter the time of day. She was a great and thoughtful friend who remembered everyone’s special days. She never met a stranger. That big smile radiated and traveled far. She attracted anyone with that smile and laughter. She impacted so many people with her presence and love.
