Angela Leddy was a devoted mother, Nonna, advocate, sister and friend. She left this world peacefully and unexpectedly on June 19, 2022 at the age of 70.
She is survived by her two children Ryann I. Bobenmoyer (Ross Bobenmoyer) and Ali E. Luchtman and two grandchildren Greyson (8) and Ryder Bobenmoyer (5). She also leaves behind three siblings Paula Boudreau (Joe Boudreau), John Leddy (Sheri Leddy) & Andy Leddy (Shelene Clark).
Angela was born in McComb, MIssissippi on October 18, 1951 to the late John and Virginia (Hyer) Leddy. Her father John was a Colonel in the US Army which entailed being stationed at multiple US bases as well as Bad Kreuznach, Germany where she attended High School and made many lifelong friends.
Angela spent the majority of her career in the healthcare industry with her most recent position at IU Health as an Administrative Coordinator. When she wasn’t working, she loved being with her daughters and grandchildren, attending church at her beloved The Church Within, or spending time with her close friends and her Spirit Circle. She was also a voracious reader, she read more books in a week’s time, than most of us read in a year. Her knowledge & wisdom were vast & ever evolving. She was a lifelong learner. Angela was tireless in her service. Whether it was her commitment to her position on the Board at her church for many years, running & organizing fundraisers for the church, like her favorite bake sale (where she usually baked most of the cookies too!), cooking up delicious comfort food for the church’s Sunday brunch or supporting her many friends by bringing them delicious meals when they were in need.
Her energy was boundless when it came to her grandchildren. She was always open to reading one more book or playing one more game or literally cooking the entire Thanksgiving meal for her family. She had a passion for advocacy & spent several years as a Court Appointed Child Advocate (CASA) making a difference in the lives of countless children. She worked tirelessly to show up for racial justice & volunteered with Indy SURJ. She wasn’t afraid to speak up & be the voice for what was right.
Everyone who knew Angela felt the warmth & light she radiated simply walking into a room. Her smile could shift the energy & she always knew how to bring out the best in those around her.It didn’t matter if you knew her for 5 minutes or 5 years, she had a magical way of making you feel heard & loved. Angela was a beacon of light & hope, filled with compassion, for anyone who needed her help. In the end, she never wanted anyone to walk alone.
We would love you to join us in a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 3rd at 12:30pm at The Church Within. The address is 1125 Spruce Street, Indianapolis 46203.
