Adryan Ray Michelle Banner, 34, of Greenwood, departed this life Monday, August 22, 2022. She was born October 26, 1987, in Indianapolis to Lorey Brooks. She attended George Washington Community School where she graduated as valedictorian in 2006. Adryan completed her bachelor’s degree in Education at Indiana University and went on to complete a master’s degree in Education at Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2021, Adryan became the Assistant Principal at Guion Creek Middle School where she was known by her students as an inspiration. She was firm, yet loving, winning the hearts of many children. In addition to her career path, she also worked as a pool manager and swimming instructor at various Indy Park pools. This afforded her the opportunity to teach many children an essential life-saving skill.
Adryan was happiest when making memories with her beloved family and friends. She held on to these memories by making sure she took plenty of pictures, always catching those candid moments and taking selfies. One of her favorite things to do was to plan parties. These parties allowed Adryan to spend time with her family and friends as well as sit down for a chat and enjoy a sip of her favorite tequila. Adryan also loved showing off her style when the opportunity presented itself. Her love for fashion did not go unnoticed. We saw it in the clothes she wore, always one to incorporate vibrant color into her styles. We also saw it in her beautiful hair and makeup. When Adryan wasn’t hosting or showing off her eye for fashion, she loved traveling to warm and tropical locations, camping, and crafting with her children.
Though gone too soon, Adryan did not lead an average life. In fact, she made sure her life positively impacted others. She lived life to the fullest, laughed often and loved freely. She will be deeply missed by many friends and family.
She is survived by her loving husband, David Banner Jr.; three children, Taylor, Alexis, and David Michael; mother, Lorey Brooks (Jim); brothers, Justin Matteson (Emily), Joshua Myers (Kandice), and Michael Matteson; sisters, Jessica Myers, Kaylie Dowell (Joe), Lauren Brooks, Stephanie Hunter (Richard) and Crystal Carr; with many more loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Tava “Mammie” Griffith-Lee, stepfather, Mike Myers, and aunt, Shoni Potter.
