Bicycle Helmet Program

Bicycle Helmet Program Helps Keep Children Safe

Since 1999 Flanner and Buchanan has given away over 40,000 bicycle helmets to young children throughout Indianapolis. Our “Play it Safe, Life Awaits” campaign was motivated by how painful it is for us to perform funerals for children. We take part in “McMiracle on 38th Street” each year where hundreds of helmets are given away to needy children that receive free bicycles in exchange for good grades in school.

When a young child or infant death does occur, Flanner and Buchanan reduces its fees. In cases of unique financial need, we even forgive fees.

Flanner and Buchanan’s Ted Mau is shown with Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. The mayor placed the 30,000th bicycle helmet on a child during Black Expo in 2008. Mau is Senior Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer.
